Fantasy Tracks Included
I added a few fantasy tracks to FreeVTT because background music makes such a huge difference in a D&D game. The right ambience during a dungeon crawl or a tense negotiation can really pull your players into the moment.
There's at least something to work with. Ambient tracks for different moods like exploration, combat, and tavern scenes. It's all free and licensed properly, so you don't have to worry about anything. I'll keep adding more tracks over time and try to think of cool ways to expand the music system.
Easy to Use
The music player is built right into FreeVTT's toolbar. Click the music button, pick a track, and it starts playing. Switch tracks when the mood changes. Go from calm exploration to intense combat music when the goblins attack.
You don't need a separate app, a Spotify playlist, or a browser tab playing YouTube. It's all right there in the same interface you're running your game from. One less thing to juggle as a DM.
Why Built-In Music Matters
Look, I know every DM has their own Spotify playlist or YouTube compilation for game night. Those are great. But having music built into the VTT means less alt-tabbing, less fumbling with multiple apps, and a smoother experience for everyone.
When you're hosting a multiplayer game, the music syncs for all players too. Everyone hears the same track at the same time. No more "hey, can you hear the music?" or sharing links in chat.

The music library is still growing. I'm actively looking for more free-to-use fantasy tracks to add. The goal is to have enough variety that you can set different moods without hearing the same track every session.
If you have suggestions for what kind of tracks would be useful, like tavern music, ocean ambience, creepy dungeon sounds, or epic boss fight music, I'm all ears. This feature is going to keep getting better. Doing it this way keeps it all free for you guys.
